Pending Sales of Homes Looking Better in Bay State
Good news: The pending sales in Massachusetts of single-family homes were higher by 5 percent and pending sales of condos were higher by 26 percent this December, when compared to December of 2008. This is actually the 6th month in a row of increased sales when compared to the month of the previous year in 2008.
Much of this information is coming from the Warren Group, which issues monthly reports on all of the completed sales and prices of real estate in Massachusetts.
Slightly bad news: The pending sales in Massachusetts of single-family homes and condos fell from November to December of 2009 (19% and 9.4% respectively). However, this decrease has been said to be attributed to the November spike in sales due to the first-time homebuyers tax credit, which has now been extended, and also due to slower sales in December due the the holiday celebrations.
Positive outlook: Many expect the sales of homes and condos in this upcoming year to be less foreclosure and short sales, and more regular sales.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that things continue to turn around.
